Suspension lines breaking strength (destruction test)
Each AP1, AD1, AT1 and BP1, BD1, BT1 line is dismantled and examined. If any of these lines has been replaced earlier, or shows any damage, the next line of the same row and layer is taken.
Breaking strength is measured with a specialized device. Minimum values for specific lines are calculated with the following formulae:
a. the main lines (AP_, BP_)
max. take-off weight x 8 / number of main lines in A and B rows (not counting the stabiliser)
Example: 130 x 8 / 12 = 87 daN (1daN = ca. 1kg)
b. auxiliary lines I (AD_, BD_)
min. value for the main line / number of lines in a fork
Example: 87 / 2 = 43.5 daN (1daN = ca. 1kg)
Breaking strength for a line of this group must be at least 40 daN.
c. auxiliary lines II (AT_, BT_)
min. value for the auxiliary line I / number of lines in a fork
Example: 43.5 / 2 = 22 daN (1daN = ca. 1kg)
Breaking strength for a line of this group must be at least 30 daN.
If any of the lines do not comply (will break at less than 30 daN) we have also to check the other lines of the same row and layer. In case of doubts all lines of given group are replaced.
Of course, the lines broken on test are replaced too. Only the original lines used by Dudek Paragliding can be applied and proper stitching must be observed.
