Asymmetric or symmetric, smooth or thorny

Wednesday, 24 August 2011 10:05

Every graphic designer arrives at a fundamental question, i.e. whether to create a symmetric or asymmetric pattern. I think every artist feels an itch to go for all and make it asymmetric, especially when thinking about canopy as a whole. So I did in case of the Orca and the Reaction. Yet already the Nemo clearly demostrated that a symmetric wing can be nice and agreaable too - a flying paraglider is most often seen from the side after all. Only flying directly above another wing can you see it whole, and this is rather rare opportunity. Accordingly, my projects became mainly symmetric and such are my proposals for Dudek. The last asymmetric wing was the Synthesis - but even then, it was in fact symmetric (in respect to a point, not an axis).
